Italy Day 1 Rome

We landed safely around 1:30 pm Rome time, and made it to our hotel by 4 p.m. after some nice quality in customers.  From there we got cleaned up and kept it simple.  The hotel manager highly recommended a nice place called "Ivo a Trastevere" where the carbonara was at it's best along with a great caprese and saltimbocca.

From there we roamed to the local piazza where we found the Basilica di Santa Maria in Trastevere. This was a Byzantine Church with some beautiful mosaics and other artwork and architecture.

From here we finished the night off with a walk and gelato and headed back for some rest and recovery from the long travel and preparation to visit the Vatican tomorrow.
