Sicily Day 8 Porto Empedocle, Turkish stairs andT Planeta Estates
Today was a fun and easy day of travel. We began the morning with grabbing some sandwiches at a sandwich shop we wanted to try in the local piazza of Porto Empedocle and took them on the way to the Turkish stairs which was 10 minutes from our hotel. It was a fun walk to the stairs, and very challenging to walk up as the winds began to whip around and increase. The Colombians that were along side us were far more brave with the elements.
After the walk we found a place further down the highway, where we were able to stop and enjoy our lunch with the vista i the background, and shore alongside of us. We finished our journey to Menfi arriving at the Planeta Estates winery, where we were set to spend a couple of nights at. This was the only winery we found that was open and fairly reasonable in the area, but it quickly turned into the perfect place for us to stay. Minutes from the shore, as most things are in Sicily it was not only scenic, but quiet and peaceful. We met an incredibly nice English man who currently lives in Vancouver, named Theo. We had phenomenal conversations with him upon arrival and at dinner.
Dinner was pretty amazing like the night before, but no where near the same amazing price, but none the less very good and fun to where we were the last people to leave. From here we turned it in for some rest, preparing for another day of lounging around on this calmer leg of the tour. Here are some more photos from our day.
